Before

Posting into the void

Mike had made one commitment when he went independent: post on LinkedIn. He kept it — 4× a week — and got nothing back. In his own words:

  1. "I thought I'd give you a shot because your posts really resonated with me and I'm just kind of posting into the void."
  2. "I have no system in place right now other than posting 4 days a week, so basically it's just a public journal at this point."
  3. "I don't have an ideal client profile to be going after online."
  4. "I'm spending 35–45 minutes creating a post… then probably an hour just trying to build my base."
  1. No ICP

Energy scattered across young professionals, pre-retirees, and wholesalers.

  2. No conversation system

Purely content, no outbound, no pipeline.

  3. Zero inbound

By his own count, inbound before optimization was "0."

  4. A billing reset

He had just gone independent RIA — mid transition.

Why he hired

The method was the proof

Mike didn't buy a pitch. He bought the thing working on him.

  1. 01 · The cold DM that resonated · May 19

"Your post about an advisor's day in the life of posting on LinkedIn had me dying laughing… I have no system in place… How could you help me get clients through LI?"

Mustafa opened on a specific Mike post — the Morgan Stanley $9M-allocation story — and diagnosed the gap, not generic praise.

  2. 02 · The free asset · May 21

"Dude, this is amazing work… You speak the financial services language really well. Outside of this post — what would working together look like?"

Mustafa wrote 3 versions of Mike's RIA-announcement post, zero strings. The gift made the buyer pitch himself.

  3. 03 · The niche unlock · May 29

"I could just absolutely crush doing wholesalers. I know all their problems so well."

Mustafa asked which ICP he felt most confident with. That sentence located the whole engagement — his lived edge, "I carried the bag."

  4. 04 · The close · June 5

"I'm down, man. You've done a really good job… You've got my commitment. I'm not afraid to pay, as long as the ROI is there. Let's make some money, dude."

After a live demo call. Not price-sensitive, ROI-sensitive.

What we built

The DM Install

A pipeline he owns, in his voice — ported from a skill he already had (50 dials a day at Jackson) to where his buyers now live.

Profile revamp

Mike's revamped LinkedIn profile — new headline, banner, and About
Positioning + profile

New headline ("Financial advisor for wholesalers & AEs — carried the bag for 10 yrs before I bought my RIA"). About section rewritten in his voice from his own posts; banner in tribal language; services, skills, headshot, and the blank cover fixed.

Sales Navigator lists

Four searches: an alumni list of his own Jackson/Pacer/GQG/Cantor colleagues, a Twin Cities distribution sweep, a national title sweep, and a warm-network search — ~2,500 qualified wholesalers, with the mechanics taught so the list-building is his forever.

The DM system

In his voice: a 3-lane playbook (warm engagers / alumni "Mike from Jackson" / cold wholesalers) — no-pitch, gift-first, tribal-recognition, separate-bubble texting register, voiced 80–85% from his own words. No templates.

Weekly coaching

30-minute reviews reading his real threads — fix what's dying, double what's working. Follow-up mechanics (1-1-3-7) and Socratic dialogue for the "I already have an advisor" wall.

Compliance cover

Researched the SEC Marketing Rule and documented it for him, and rotated the DM sign-off phrasing so the archived trail never reads copy-paste to an auditor.

Content coaching

A pivot to story/emotion posts, image/recognition rules, and tribal-language density that filters advisors out and pulls wholesalers in.

Daily operating system: 10 quality DMs + 30 connection requests, ~30–45 minutes a day — half his old LinkedIn time. Warm before cold, log once at end of day.

  7. 07 · Jul 22 · Meeting booked mid-thread

"Also I got a meeting mid cold DM 😂"
    Meeting booked mid cold-DM thread
  8. 08 · Jul 25 · Month-one review: 3–4 meetings booked/held

"A lot of people that have reached out and said they like what I'm doing."

Same day: "Had a meeting today with the guy that reached out and sold himself on grabbing a meeting. He looks like a really good opportunity."

Against his own success metric set on day one — "at least 3 meetings with a qualified person" — he hit it inside the first month, then reverse-engineered a 12-clients-a-year goal (10 DMs/day → 200/month).

Turning points

Objections handled

  1. First-mover fear

"It's scary committing my LinkedIn to a niche nobody's done." Reframed with proof and a one-month focus goal.

  2. Compliance anxiety

The "materially change every 10 messages" myth — resolved with the actual SEC Marketing Rule plus a rotating sign-off so the archive never looks templated.

  3. Cash-flow / timing

A billing reset and a trip abroad — solved by flexing timing, never price: lock now, kick off after the trip.
